FAQ Accommodations

1) How can I get from the airport to my hotel/the University campus?
Graduate students in our department will be providing rides for students from the airport to the place where they will be staying during the conference. For some, that may mean a local hotel, while others may choose to stay on campus at the East West Center (see below). If you wish to be picked up at the airport, please notify us know as soon as your flight itinerary is confirmed.

2) Where can I stay during the conference?
The best option for most students is the East West Center, conveniently located on the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa campus, and also the cheapest short-term housing available. Hale Kuahine and Hale Mānoa provide dorm-style accommodation (shared bathrooms and kitchen) for $28/night (single) or $39/night (double). Lincoln Hall is more like a hotel, with private bathrooms, television, and housekeeping. Lincoln Hall’s rates are $52/night for a standard studio with double bed, or $64/night for a corner studio with two double beds. For more information, see: http://www.eastwestcenter.org/?id=833.

The Visitor Housing Request Form is available here: https://www.eastwestcenter.org/sites/all/modules/filemanager/files/Housing/Visitor.pdf
For those who prefer to stay amid the bright lights of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu, here are some of our recommendations:
(Please note that some of the rates listed are rates special for UH-sponsored event participants and the hotels may require confirmation from our department. If this is the case, please contact the department secretary at philo@hawaii.edu or 808-956-8649.)
